Partnership with Girl Scouts and Teachers' Teammates Brings Feminine Products to Soccer Families
Chester Upland Youth Soccer strives to remove barriers to participation in a healthy, active lifestyle. “Period Poverty,” which includes a lack of access to menstrual products, can be one such barrier.
Chester Upland Youth Soccer has partnered with Teachers’ Teammates and Havertown Girl Scout Troops 5393, 5513 and 5374 to help minimize period poverty among Chester Upland Youth Soccer families and others in the community. Together these organizations are providing product packs that help ease the financial and emotional pressure caused by period poverty.
The Girls Helping Girls. Period. website explains, “People in communities all across the United States are missing school and work because they simply can't afford basic necessities like tampons and pads. Those items are not covered by food stamps and some families are forced to cut back or choose other critical purchases. At Girls Helping Girls. Period. we believe menstrual health is a matter of basic health and human dignity.”
Chester Upland Youth Soccer agrees and is proud to be a part of this project.
