Dear *|FNAME|*

As we approach another holiday season, CUYS has much to celebrate and to be grateful for. This fall marked our 10th anniversary delivering the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Soccer for Success program in Chester. Over the years, we’ve served 8,946 children thanks to the hard work of 289 coach-mentors. Those are big numbers, and we hope to keep growing them with the generous support of partners like you!

This month also marks the first anniversary of our sister organization, Youth Development United, and our endowment. Because of this extension of our work, program participants have enjoyed kung fu, a run/walk club, bowling, career discovery events and a bike rodeo while away from the soccer pitch. We are getting ready to launch art classes, a podcasting club, pickleball instruction and other fun for them in 2023. Please let us know if you have any hobbies or career path insights that you’d like to share. The magic all happens because of collaborations with big-hearted people, and we’d love to engage you in the process whenever you are available.

Please enjoy some recent highlights of late 2022 below, including our front page newspaper coverage, and click here for even more details and photos of the children of Greater Chester making the most of the opportunities that your help allows us to provide.

Thanks,
Jeannine and the CUYS/YDU Family

Fall Season Fun

After-school soccer is always a lot of fun, as shown here at Stetser Elementary. This fall, we stepped up our game by also watching a Union practice session and chasing balls on the sidelines of a Swarthmore College game.

Goals in Gardens

CUYS’ “Goals in Gardens” initiative presents opportunities for children and families to visit inspiring destinations, immerse themselves in the beauty of nature and the free expression of an art project, and play soccer in a new setting. Recent destinations for this program include the Garrett Williamson Farm in Newtown Square and the Community Arts Center in Wallingford. In the spring, we hope to play at Colonial Plantation in Edgmont Township.

Partying in the Park

The recently renovated Sun Village Park was a prime location for one of our Soccer Saturdays this fall. We invited Keep Music Alive, Greener Partners, Chester Education Foundation, and the “It’s a Family Affair” food truck to help to enrich this experience. Earlier in the season, the Delco Philly 40+ Double Dutch Club were our guests and instructors at another Soccer Saturday.

Making Headlines

In partnership with the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, Swarthmore Recreation Association and other organizations, we hosted a Bike Rodeo and gave away 40 donated bicycles for children and their adult family members to ride together.
