Fairgrounds Community Joins Soccer for Success
Delaware County Housing Authority’s Fairgrounds Community is the newest addition to Chester Upland Youth Soccer’s after-school programming family. Thanks to the partnership, the Fairgrounds will offer homework help and Soccer for Success to children ages 7-14 beginning in March 2023.
Additionally, CUYS has directed its snack wish list to have donations sent to the Fairgrounds.
All participants in Chester Upland Youth Soccer are also invited to free activities and events put on by sibling organization Youth Development United. This includes monthly bowling outings, career discovery events, ice skating, kung fu, and many other free programs.
Additionally, Youth Development United has provided other engagement for the children and families to enjoy at the Fairgrounds.
As a follow-up to YDU’s first Bike Rodeo, which aimed to increase access to cycling for all, the organization prepped and donated nine bikes, two scooters and helmets of all sizes to be loaned out from the Fairgrounds community center.
YDU partner Real Kids Real Food will soon begin sessions to help educate Fairgrounds children and their families on the relationship between the food they eat and their overall health and wellness. The partners also arranged for four Blendjets to be donated for use in the class.
“Convenient food is not healthy and healthy food is not convenient. That’s the problem BlendJet was created to solve. The goal of the company is not to sell blenders, but to help people live longer and healthier lives by giving them delicious and nutritious food options, anytime, anywhere,” shared company representative Maeghan, who facilitated their generous and useful in-kind donation.
This mentality is consistent with the mission of Chester Upland Youth Soccer, which is to strengthen the communities it serves by mentoring youth, engaging families, and promoting healthy living. CUYS is glad to welcome the families of the Fairgrounds to make the most of its initiatives.
