Junior Coach Honored with Scholarship

Artemis “AJ” Hernandez is an avid and talented soccer player who shared his love of the game with the children of Chester Upland Youth Soccer for years, including during the very special Soccer Saturdays of Spring and Summer 2021 when we returned to live play following the pandemic isolation. As a junior coach, he was a regular positive presence in the lives of children and an enthusiastic mentor whom the children adored.

We are thrilled to congratulate AJ as he recently graduated from Chester’s STEM Academy and now prepares to embark on his next chapter at Westchester University with a Dora and John Brown Scholarship in hand. He plans to become a Computer Software Developer.

CUYS Executive Director Jeannine Anckaitis was at the scholarship ceremony hosted by The Community’s Foundation, and cheered AJ on when his name and his volunteer work with CUYS were announced.
